In 2003 we placed a remote black and white video camera in the woodland at Hedgebottom Home and within a few days we were able to watch live pictures of the badgers feeding, much better than anything available on broadcast TV at 11 o'clock at night.
Sadly due to limitations regarding internet access and our location we aren't able to stream live pictures to you at this time, we are working on this and hope to resolve the situation very soon. In the meantime here are some stills taken from the original Hedgebottom Home Badgercam.
For the 'techies' we use the following equipment for badgercam.
In the woodland:
High resolution waterproof black and white camera.
Small cluster infrared led light, mounted above the camera.
2.4Ghz transmtter (low power on a deregulated channel)
12 volt sealed rechargable battery pack.
In Hedgebottom Home:
2.4Ghz receiver.
SVHS video recorder.
Video monitor.
We were so pleased with the results from Hedgebottom Home Badgercam (version 1) Glyn spent sometime upgrading and experimenting with the technology. The infrared led lighting pack now covers up to 25 feet from the camera. Good thing too as we now use colour cameras.
