A good day was had by all, and my word he works hard !

I was asked to be the "warm up" for Alan Titchmarsh a couple of months before the date, so in the interim period I have had a fair few people come to up to me and give me their thoughts on this man. I personally speak as I find, and having interviewed him a couple of times on the phone and ISDN I found him to be super, a genuine nice chap - but was he different in person ? Yes he was, he was even nicer !

Here's to the next hosting session - I really enjoy them, and if you were there, hope you did too.

Final thought on the day : Could have done without cueing at the ladies for as long as we did (blame Alan for huge crowds), could have done with a few less people down the show aisles (blame Alan for huge crowds), and would have been nice to have some time off to go and shop properly (blame Alan for hundreds of people sitting waiting for him so we ended up entertaining them).

I was an Alan Titchmarsh fan before, but an even bigger one now, and I've got a wet cheek to prove it !

Alan had travelled upto Malvern from his home in Hampshire to spend the day at The Spring Gardening Show at 3 Counties Showground at Malvern, and my word, did he spend the day !

I have heard rumours on the sort of money that Alan can command, but heh - he attracted the crowds, gave his all and if the receipts on the door were anything to go by - he was well worth it, and compared to other "celebrities" he is one of a rare breed of what I call a natural people person, he hasn't forgotten the reason why he is up there, yes he has a talent but that's no good if you can't share it with your audience, and that's why they then go and buy his books be it gardening, romance or autobiographical, purchase his brand equipment and sit for over 3 hours reserving a seat for his appearance.

I am fortunate to meet many and varied people and it is a job I love, Reg Moule (our very own Gardening Guru) and I kept people entertained, had fun, did our own question time and yes, "my wisteria isn't flowering" did come up again !

He never stopped to draw breath, never complained and gave his time to those who wanted it, and all throughout he smiled, was friendly to all, chatted and signed autographs as well as hosting question and answer sessions - even got down to pot up a hanging basket which would then go on to be auctioned for Acorns Hospice Appeal.
