Update on Friday 29th December

Hope all was well and continues to be for your Christmas. I can’t remember one so mild for a long time, like everyone else, the buds are coming up, I’m sure the grass has grown and here we are heading for 2007.

Fieldfares are around which is always a great sight, we appear to have a visiting flock of some 35/40 birds, and so far there appears to be enough berries to go round, the holly around here is incredible.

The birds have had their Christmas too with the leftovers from dinner making their bird tables, and whilst I’m on about the feathered friends, I was really quite taken back with a sighting of a Treecreeper feeding off a peanut holder, and it wasn’t just a one off as it’s happened now a few times, I have never heard of this - we’re going to try and take a picture if we can, but talk about a shy bird !

Speaking of shy birds - me ! Working in radio as I do I can offer up all sorts of images of me, 6 ft and blonde is the one I tend to give out, so a shock somewhat for those who watched BBC2’s Growing Out of Trouble with Monty Don, there I was in the last one of the series, not only visible but talking too, the Boss saw it as well but no sign of a pay rise as yet !!!
I’m off now with my binoculars, wellies and the dog to see what we can spot, one thing that is a mystery at the moment is something is coming into the garden smelling of something I can’t identify, it’s not a fox as they smell like Cat Pee, Badgers don’t smell so as yet, I’m stumped.

Here’s to 2007 and hope it brings everything you wish for.
