I'm still married! not only did he remember but I had a card and he treated me to a super meal, and no it wasn't wrapped in newspaper!
Met some old pals today when I recorded a piece for my new show with the gang at Breast Cancer Haven in Hereford. Fantastic facility it is, totally free and people from all over the country come to chat, try out complimentary therapies before, during or after medical treatment. Must say hi to Postie Mike who with another postman Glyn are cycling from Hereford to the brand new Haven opening in Leeds in the week beginning 12 October. Mike used to listen to my show, he's a super chap who has raised a huge amount of money for charity so well done lad, and all the best for the journey, especially as I'm told you're both on a post bike which only has three gears!
I gather it's officially Autumn now and thinking about it, yes the leaves are starting to create a covering on the lawn, there's certainly a chill in the air and this weekend it's the Autumn Show at Malvern. I love autumn, I love the feel of the season, the colours it creates and having spent a few hours last weekend picking the last of the blackberries it's like putting your surroundings to bed until the spring. One thing I learnt staying with blackberries, is that it turns out there is officially a time to stop picking them and that's the tenth of October, apparently after that the devil has spat on them so not good.
Been on a bit of a tour this week, hello to Stoke, Crewe, Nantwich, Tenbury, Hereford, Leominster and this sunday I'm working at Malvern. The Autumn Show is my favourite of the year at the Three Counties Showground, and I'm going to be meeting the new presenter of 'Gardeners World' Toby Buckland, and meeting a man who is known for large vegetables! If you're heading that way I'm in the 'Pot to Plot' marquee and it would be great to see you.
Countdown to Focal Radio is now less than six weeks away, and a week today sees the arrival of the cows, good job they've got shaggy coats as I reckon they'll need them.
