Wednesday 6 May

Been a funny couple of days - began with my birthday when I took a long walk with my Sister which ended up with us looking very suspicious in a woodland when she began to feel weird, long story short, nice couple came ot the rescue with water. Then came Monday when I spotted a lamb with what looked like a broken leg. We live on a Common and most of the sheep by us belong to a farmer called Malcolm so rang him first - it wasn't his, but he kindly rang his neighbour to tell him I'd meet him where the animal was. Roy arrived, nice chap, we talked for over an hour, he saw my Cows, looked at the lamb - which wasn't his either! By now it was raining, the youngster was eating a bit which was good but didn't fancy the idea of it being out that night as it was vulnerable. I know I said I was after a couple of lawnmowers but this wasn't how I viewed it. Finally tracked down the owner and by now it was really raining, another nice chap (not the best circumstances to meet people I know, but there we are), anyway, we sorted Mum and baby out as they were going back tot he farm for a couple of weeks where lamb could wear a cast and stay relatively still for a bit.  Having walked up and down hills for a fair while as well as taking the dogs out for an hour, I had hoped I'd lost a pound ...... and I had!
Been to get my hair done today so feel human again which is a good job as I'm working Friday, Saturday and Sunday at The Spring Gardening Show in the Food Theatre (although I can go and have a hug with James Alexander Sinclair in the Gardening Theatre - it's the law), and then Sunday evening I'm compering the Worcestershire Young Musicians Gala Concert at Birmingham Symphony Hall where I even get my own dressing room. Think I'll sleep well when I get home that night. Thank you to Jane for emailing a couple of dedications for the event, and anymore, do let me know.
I was asked by one of our neighbours children today if the Sweet Chestnut tree was growing bananas, what a lovely thought, and on that note I'm off to put the hens away.
